The New International Crime Wave
True stories of crime, justice, and investigation on television have never gone out of fashion, but are now experiencing a renaissance on cable networks in the US, Canada, the UK, and beyond.
This year at History Makers 2011, a panel of network decision makers from Investigation Discovery, Shaw Media, and A&E share their unique insights on the strategy behind the success of these formats, what broadcasters are looking for in crime and investigation programming, and how producers can prepare their pitches to meet this growing demand.

Werner Herzog's 3D Film To Screen At History Makers 2011
|Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Werner Herzog’s 3D film of the oldest known pictorial creations of humankind, will be screened at this year’s History Makers summit in New York. Registered delegates are invited to RSVP for this exclusive screening, which will take place Friday, January 28th, 6pm at the Dolby Theater 88. Seats are limited.
Herzog was given exclusive access to the Chauvet Cave in Southern France, the astonishing natural setting of these 30,000 year old paintings.
|Having previously shunned 3D, Herzog chose it for this film to capture the intentions of the painters, who incorporated the subtle bulges and contours of the cave into their art.
The cave was discovered in 1996 in amazing condition, having been previously covered by an avalanche. There are severe restrictions on access to the cave, so viewing of these images is a rare event.
Cave Of Forgotten Dreams is produced by Creative Differences in partnership with HISTORY Films and The French Ministry of Culture and Communication as a co-production with Arte France and in association with More 4. The documentary is produced by Erik Nelson and Adrienne Cuiffo with executive producers Dave Harding, David McKillop, Julian P. Hobbs, Molly Thompson, and Tabitha Jackson.
